How to Avoid Timetable Conflicts
Most timetable conflicts come from assigning the same faculty, class, room or shared resource to two activities at the same time.
Faculty conflicts
Record fixed lectures and external or occupied periods before generation. This prevents double booking across departments or buildings.
Room and resource conflicts
Labs, seminar halls and specialist rooms should be treated as limited resources. A room can serve only one incompatible activity in a time slot unless the activity is intentionally merged.
Merged classes
When two sections attend the same lecture together, define a merge rule with the common faculty and room. The timetable should count that as one faculty lecture while displaying it for each participating class.
Final checks
Review unscheduled subject load, faculty overload, free periods and room usage before printing or exporting the final timetable.
